Commissioner Roy Britz moved and Commissioner Glenn Anderson seconded approval of appropriations to Copper Country Mental Health ($13,707.91), NorthCare Network ($23,849.50) and WUPPDR third-quarter ($4,461.25); that motion carried by voice vote. Separately, a travel request for the Equalization Department to attend the Michigan Association of Equalization Directors annual conference ($1,785) was approved (motion: Anderson; second: Janssen).
County Clerk Jennifer Kelly also reported election-related grants that saved municipalities an estimated $19,779 by securing three additional tabulators for the Early Voting Center, and she said 11 millage proposals will appear on Aug. 6 ballots across the county. Public comments at the end of the meeting included project updates on PILT and a request for state and federal attention on a second-bridge project.
