Houghton County board adopts spending, labor and property measures in unanimous votes

The board also approved payment of bills totaling $1,305,804.44 and several routine travel and appropriation items during the meeting.
Why it matters: The measures collectively affect county operations, personnel costs, property ownership and regional cooperation on solid-waste planning. The annexation petition, if accepted by the City of Houghton and Portage Township under statutory procedures, would transfer a county-owned parcel into the county seat to enable relocation of certain facilities.
