Grant County Water Resource District approves minutes and denies drainage complaint

The Grant County Water Resource District met on Nov. 17, 2025, in Elgin and took several routine actions, including approving the Oct. 20 meeting minutes and paying bills totaling $2,529.71.

The board convened at 6:30 p.m. with Chairman Jerald Christensen, Directors Gary Meyer and Harold Gaugler and Secretary/Treasurer Julie Levorsen present; a member of the public, Steven Schadler, also attended. Harold Gaugler moved to approve the Oct. 20 minutes; Gary Meyer seconded and the motion carried.

The treasurer’s report and a bill list were presented and approved. The bills included payments to Southwest Water Authority ($115.86), Mor Gran Sou ($332.70), Levorsen Acctg & Tax ($50.00), Lince Sanitation ($555.00), Elgin True Value ($37.98), a $50.00 maintenance payment to Jerald Christensen, ND Water Users Association convention registration ($310.00) and pay vouchers totaling $1,078.17, for a total of $2,529.71. Gary Meyer moved to approve the treasurer’s report and pay the bills; Harold Gaugler seconded and the motion carried.

Chairman Jerald Christensen reported on ongoing work at Raleigh Dam, citing items such as installation or servicing of a vault toilet, painting and placement of signs. The board also reviewed progress and repairs at Sheep Creek for the 2025 season. During that discussion the board reviewed and completed a grazing rental agreement for Sheep Creek; the minutes do not specify rental terms.

After reviewing and investigating a drainage complaint, Director Harold Gaugler moved to deny the complaint; Gary Meyer seconded and the motion carried, formally rejecting the complaint.

The board reviewed correspondence and then adjourned. Gary Meyer moved to adjourn; Harold Gaugler seconded and the motion carried.
