Grant County Water Resource District approves bills, advances Sheep Creek grazing lease and recommends new director

In procedural business, Director Harold Gaugler moved to approve the minutes of the Sept. 22, 2025 meeting; Director Gary Meyer seconded and the motion carried. Secretary/Treasurer Julie Levorsen presented the treasurer's report and bills for payment. On a land-use item, Director Harold Gaugler reported he had contacted the North Dakota Game and Fish Department regarding a grazing request at Sheep Creek raised by attendee Buddy Laub. Gaugler moved to approve a lease agreement for grazing at Sheep Creek, subject to finalizing the lease details, and to allow Ducks Unlimited to provide cost-share for watering infrastructure; Gary Meyer seconded and the motion carried. The motion as recorded is conditional on completing lease details.
The board also received an update on Raleigh Dam operations. Members discussed toilet repairs at the dam and noted that water levels at the structure continue to rise; no formal action on the dam repair work was recorded in the minutes.
