Grant County Water Resource District approves bills, funds reservoir maintenance and sets Sept. meeting

At its Aug. 18 meeting in Elgin the Grant County Water Resource District approved $6,239.78 in bills, authorized $80 to a 4H club for painted picnic tables and a $50 caretaker supplies reimbursement, scheduled Sheep Creek repairs and moved its September meeting to Sept. 22 at 7 a.m. MDT.
The Grant County Water Resource District met Aug. 18 in Elgin. Chairman Jerald Christensen called the meeting to order; Directors Gary Meyer and Harold Gaugler and Secretary/Treasurer Julie Levorsen were recorded as present.
The board approved the minutes from the July 21, 2025 meeting and the July 2025 financial report. Both votes were made by motion (minutes: Gary Meyer moved, Harold Gaugler seconded; financial report: Harold Gaugler moved, Gary Meyer seconded) and recorded as carried.
The district reviewed a bills list totaling $6,239.78. The list included payments to Southwest Water Authority and Mor Gran Sou for Raleigh and Sheep Creek accounts, a $50 rent/accounting charge to Levorsen Accounting & Tax PC, sanitation service to Lince Sanitation, caretaker payments to Wayne Iszler ($1,250) and Andrew Kuntz ($1,000), supplies for Raleigh ($50), and a $80 entry for Sagebrush Riders 4H Club for painting tables. Director Gary Meyer moved to approve and pay the bills; Harold Gaugler seconded and the motion carried. The minutes state only that the motion carried; no roll-call vote totals were recorded in the transcript.
On Raleigh Reservoir maintenance, the board noted the Sagebrush Riders 4H Club completed painting the remaining picnic tables. The board approved paying $20 for each of four tables (total $80) to the club (motion by Gary Meyer, seconded by Harold Gaugler) and approved a $50 reimbursement to Raleigh caretaker Andrew Kuntz for supplies (motion by Harold Gaugler, seconded by Gary Meyer). Both motions were recorded as carried.
At Sheep Creek trustees discussed minor repairs including the sandbox, tables and a roof repair and scheduled a work day in August to address those items.
The board reviewed the county’s new budgeting process and recorded that Chairman Jerald Christensen and Secretary/Treasurer Julie Levorsen will attend the county budget hearing on Sept. 10 to represent the district.
Because of scheduling conflicts the board set its regular September meeting for Sept. 22, 2025 at 7:00 a.m. MDT and agreed that notices would be sent to stakeholders. The meeting was adjourned on a motion by Gary Meyer, seconded by Harold Gaugler; the minutes record that the motion carried.
