Grant County Water Resource District approves bills, renews CDs and reviews reservoir, park repairs

The Grant County Water Resource District on Oct. 21 in Elgin approved payment of $6,024.30 in bills, reviewed maintenance work at Raleigh Reservoir and Sheep Creek, and voted to renew maturing certificates of deposit.
Chairman Jerald Christensen called the regular meeting to order at 7 p.m. and the board approved the minutes of the Sept. 16 meeting. Director Gary Meyer moved to approve the September financial report; Director Harold Gaugler seconded and the motion carried.
The board reviewed an itemized list of bills including payments to Southwest Water Authority, Mor Gran Sou, Lince Sanitation, Elgin True Value, Brad Harris for labor at Raleigh, Pro Forms, the U.S. Treasury for 3Q 941, Liberty Dirtwork LLC, an equipment-use payment to Chairman Jerald Christensen, and accounting rent to Levorsen Accounting & Tax. The pay vouchers portion totaled $3,064.99 and the total presented was $6,024.30. Director Harold Gaugler moved to approve and pay the bills as presented, including payment to Wayne Iszler for Sheep Creek spraying and maintenance if those charges were submitted before the end of the month; Director Gary Meyer seconded and the motion carried.
On park and reservoir operations, Christensen reported fall work at Raleigh Reservoir — tree work, bathroom painting and placement of rocks by the pier — and noted there was no update on a joint repair. At Sheep Creek, board members reported that picnic tables have been stained and boards replaced and that the sandbox project is completed; picnic table repairs remain and the west-side shelter still needs to be finished.
Directors Meyer and Gaugler reported on a September meeting with the Missouri River Joint Board. Gaugler also briefed the board on attending the Upper Missouri River Association conference in Billings, Montana.
The board considered several certificates of deposit that matured in October and voted to renew a CD at First International Bank & Trust at 4.58% for a three-month term and to renew two CDs at Grant County State Bank at 3.75% for 12-month terms; Harold Gaugler moved the renewal motion, Gary Meyer seconded and the motion carried.
Director Gary Meyer moved to adjourn; Director Harold Gaugler seconded and the motion carried. Julie Levorsen, secretary-treasurer, signed the minutes.
