Morton County Commission approves routine agenda items, abatements, travel and township mileage certificate

The Morton County Commission met May 9, 2024, at the Morton County Courthouse in Mandan and handled routine county business that included approving the meeting agenda with a change, approving the April 23 minutes, and approving bills and payroll. Commissioner Buckley moved to approve the agenda; Commissioner Morrell seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
The commission approved multiple tax abatements across several motions: abatement #6577 (moved Morrell, second Leingang); abatements #6578'#6581 (moved Buckley, second Morrell); abatement #6582 (moved Leingang, second Morrell); abatements #6583'#6585 (moved Morrell, second Leingang); and abatements #6586'#6587 (moved Morrell, second Buckley). Each motion carried with all commissioners voting aye.
The board approved out-of-state travel for Assistant State's Attorneys Dacquisto and Klein to attend the Digital Evidence for Prosecutors Court at NCFI in Alabama, June 23'28, 2024, and for Assistant State's Attorney Fischer to attend July 14'19, 2024. The commission also approved the Township Road Mileage Certificate for submission to the Office of the North Dakota State Treasurer.
County Auditor Dawn R Rhone reported that total county funds expended from April 24, 2024 through May 9, 2024 amounted to $1,107,180.02; a detailed list of checks is available for public inspection during regular business hours at the Morton County Auditor's Office. The meeting adjourned at 6:34 PM after a motion by Commissioner Morrell seconded by Commissioner Leingang.
