Gove County commissioners approve disaster application, budget transfers and remove temporary fuel stipend

Gove County commissioners on Feb. 9 approved a county disaster application, authorized budget transfers, signed off on routine payments and votes to remove a temporary fuel stipend established during a period of high gasoline prices.
Amy Davidson presented a disaster application tied to the county’s NRP program; Adam Teeter moved to approve the application, Joe Schmidtberger seconded, and the motion carried by unanimous vote. The board also approved transfers for Landfill Closure and the Equipment Reserve Rescue Fund after a motion by Teeter and second by Schmidtberger.
During the 10:30–11:30 a.m. portion of the meeting the commissioners approved Accounts Payable checks (74339–74341, 74342–74393), amended minutes and a set of add and abates (listed in the minutes as 2026000073–2026000075, 2026000079, 2026000080, 2026000087, 2026000088, 2026000097, 2026000098 and 2026000102). The minutes record that each of these routine actions passed by unanimous motions.
Commissioners also discussed a temporary fuel stipend previously paid to employees when gas prices were elevated. After noting that gas prices had declined, the board voted to end the fuel stipend effective after the current pay period (motion by Adam Teeter, second by Chuck Kuntz; carried unanimously). The meeting concluded with a motion by Joe Schmidtberger to adjourn at 12:20 p.m., which passed unanimously.
