Economic Development Board names chair, discusses director role; commissioners tour ethanol plant

Economic Development Board members met during the commissioners' Jan. 12 session to discuss the future Economic Development Director position and expectations for that role. Commissioners and board members emphasized the need for written guidelines for the director's responsibilities and brought forward the board's role in shaping those expectations.
Commissioner Adam Teeter moved to appoint Nick Zerr as chair of the Economic Development Board and Von Tuttle as vice-chair; the motion carried unanimously. Board members present included Jewel Maier, Patrick Richmeyer, Nick Zerr, Booke Briggs, Von Tuttle and Roger Ringer.
Later in the afternoon, county commissioners and staff toured the local ethanol plant, meeting with Dusty Zerr and Derek Piney, who described the plant's operations. The tour concluded at 4:25 p.m.; the board adjourned at 4:26 p.m.
