Gove County commissioners delay grader purchase after receiving equipment bids

At an 8:39–8:47 a.m. presentation, representatives from Foley Equipment (Doug Minson and Mark Polifka) and from Murphy/John Deere Tractor & Equipment (Brad Smith) outlined proposals for cutting edges, culverts and grader units. County staff member Drew Tuttle summarized the bids and provided the board with comparative information; the minutes record that "the commissioners will wait to decide on which Grader to purchase." The board took no formal procurement vote during the meeting.
The presentations also included discussion of grader specifications and related maintenance items. Tuttle noted the county's generator maintenance contract is coming up for attention, but no decision was recorded. Commissioners Adam Teeter (chairman), Chuck Kuntz, Joe Schmidtberger and Steve Hirsch attended and posed questions during the vendor presentations.
The board did not set a timeline for a final purchase decision; commissioners indicated they would review the written bids before acting. The executive session portions of the morning meeting related to non-elected personnel and did not contain procurement votes or vendor negotiations in the public record.
