Roads report: bridge work set to start Jan. 19; county to evaluate bridge struck by vehicle

County Road and Bridge staff briefed commissioners on road maintenance priorities and upcoming projects at the Jan. 12 meeting.
Erin Stoabs presented the Road and Bridge voucher summary and described public contacts about road conditions. Staff discussed starting grader bids from John Deere and Caterpillar, along with needs for mowers, skid steers, culverts and cutting edges. Drew Tuttle asked about the two grader bids and identified related equipment needs.
Commissioners were told the bridge east of Gove on County Road S (bridge 130) is scheduled to start work on Jan. 19, 2026. Staff also reported that a vehicle struck Bridge 330; Penco will evaluate county roads CR 0, 80 and 82 to assess damage and needed repairs.
No formal vote was recorded on contracts or procurement at the meeting; staff indicated bids and evaluations are under consideration and will return to the board as required.
