The Newnan‑Coweta County Airport Authority on Jan. 16 reappointed its leadership for 2026, adopted existing meeting rules and approved minutes from Nov. 21, 2025, then heard operational updates on finance, fuel policy and event planning.
In the first business of the year the Authority voted 4–0 (Lee Moody absent) to appoint Joe Rutkiewic as Chairman and Hank Moody as Vice‑Chairman; the board designated Lee Moody as Secretary, appointed Nathan Lee of Glover and Davis, P.A., as legal counsel and named Fran Collins clerk for 2026. The board also voted to adopt the current rules governing regular meetings and approved the Nov. 21, 2025 minutes, each by a 4–0 vote.
Airport Manager Calvin Walker provided routine operational reports covering November 2025 financials, fuel sales, shadeports and the number of based aircraft. Walker said the airport needs five additional fixed‑based aircraft to reach the state's top five list for general aviation airports but that space is currently limited until more hangars are built along East Aviation Way.
Airport Engineer Phl Eberly discussed the Federal Aviation Administration’s draft plan to eliminate leaded aviation fuels by 2030 and said adding tanks for non‑lead aviation fuel at the new terminal fuel farm would position the airport to pursue state or federal funding for the transition. Member Edward Davidson observed the FAA plan sits alongside competing synthetic‑fuel initiatives; funding outcomes will influence which approach moves forward.
In supplemental items Davidson updated the board on World Cup 2026 planning related to airport operations, saying the County's event page had more than 175,000 views in just over a month and that the airport anticipates an "all hands on deck" effort during the tournament.
The meeting adjourned after routine closing business. The Authority will meet next on Feb. 20, 2026.
