TIFT COUNTY — The Tift County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 8 voted to table consideration of Ordinance No. 2023-04, which would have set leash and tether requirements under the county's animal control rules.
County Manager Jim Carter told the board that more work was needed on the ordinance and asked that the item be tabled. Commissioner Stan Stalnaker moved to table the ordinance; Commissioner Greg Wood seconded. The motion carried 6-0 with Chairman Tony McBrayer voting.
The agenda notes show the ordinance had been tabled previously on Nov. 13 and Dec. 11, 2023. No additional public comment or amendment was recorded at the Jan. 8 meeting. The matter will return to the board for further consideration after staff completes the requested revisions.
