Tift County approves LMIG application, two grant awards, court services agreements and four retail alcohol licenses

TIFT COUNTY — During its Jan. 8 regular meeting the Tift County Board of Commissioners approved a consent agenda that included multiple grant actions, court services contracts and retail alcohol licenses.
The board authorized staff to submit an LMIG 24 (Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant) application that would include Red Oak Road. It also voted to accept a $351,804 grant award for the Tifton Judicial Circuit SCCJ ARPA funding and a $130,101 award from the Prosecuting Attorneys' Council of Georgia for the VOCA (Victims of Crime Act) program.
Commissioners approved agreements with Professional Court Services to provide misdemeanor probation services for State Court and for Superior Court. The board also approved Resolution No. 2024-01, which sets and publishes qualifying fees for county offices.
The consent agenda included approval of four retail malt beverage package and retail wine package licenses for the following applicants and locations as read by the chairman: Sandip M. Patel (Shivam A&B Inc) at 367 GA Hwy 125 South; Yogeshkumar Patel (SHREEJITIFTON Inc) at 3131 US Hwy 41 South; Jaimin Patel (JM Tifton LLC) at 1303 Hwy 82 East; and Nehaben Patel (Jogni LLC) at 5070 GA Hwy 125 N.
Commissioner Fred "Buck" Rigdon moved to approve the consent agenda as read; Commissioner Donnie Hester seconded. The motion carried 6-0 with Chairman Tony McBrayer voting.
