Tift County recommends maintenance contract and equipment purchases; board to place items on consent agenda

IT Director Al Stephenson told commissioners the Eaton 93PM uninterruptible power supply (UPS) that supports the county E-911 room and data server room needs a maintenance agreement quoted at $10,891. He said the UPS keeps critical systems online until the facility generator can take over.
Al Stephenson also said the Sheriff's Office lease for a Canon copier in Booking is expiring and presented a purchase option from Ashley's for $19,750. Purchasing the device rather than leasing, Stephenson said, would save an estimated $13,610 over four years.
Public Works Director Jason Jordan reported competitive bids to replace leased heavy equipment. Motorgrader bids: Yancey CAT at $381,004 and Dobbs Equipment at $414,580.42; staff recommended the low bidder. Wheeled excavator bids: Yancey CAT at $284,252 and Dobbs Equipment at $337,630.04; staff recommended the low bidder. Funding for the equipment purchases was proposed from T-SPLOST/TIA.
The board did not take formal votes during the workshop but indicated it wanted these items placed on the April 8 consent agenda for formal action at the regular meeting.
