The Screven County Board of Commissioners recorded the following formal actions and votes at its Sept. 14, 2021 meeting.
• Agenda approval: Commissioner J.C. Warren moved to approve the agenda with the addition of New Business item IV.(4) Tax Levy; Commissioner Allison Willis seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
• Minutes approval: Commissioner Rosa Romeo moved to approve the Aug. 10, 2021 minutes; Commissioner Allison Willis seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
• Appointment to DFACS: Commissioner Edwin Lovett moved to appoint Sandra Brown to an unexpired DFACS term; Commissioner J.C. Warren seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
• Fire/EMS concrete work (contract/low bid): Commissioner J.C. Warren moved to accept the low bid for concrete work at the EMS and Fire Department for $81,401, to be paid from SPLOST ($40,700.50) and Fire Fund contingency ($40,700.50); Commissioner John O. Triplett seconded. Commissioners Boyd, Romeo, Triplett, Dixon, Lovett and Warren voted yes; Commissioner Allison Willis voted no. Motion carried by majority vote.
• Fire Command 1 vehicle purchase: Commissioner J.C. Warren moved to approve purchase of a Command 1 vehicle for $33,300 and equipment for $5,000 from Fire Fund contingency; Commissioner Rosa Romeo seconded. Commissioners Boyd, Triplett, Romeo, Warren and Lovett voted yes; Commissioners Willis and Dixon voted no. Motion carried by majority vote.
• Courthouse boiler replacement: Commissioner J.C. Warren moved to approve replacement of the courthouse boiler at a cost of $28,875 (Augusta Chiller proposal); Commissioner Rosa Romeo seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
• 2021 Tax Levy adoption: Commissioner Rosa Romeo moved to adopt a resolution setting the 2021 tax levy and county millage rate; Commissioner Allison Willis seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
• Executive session minutes: After returning from executive session on personnel, Commissioner Mike Dixon moved to approve the executive-session minutes; Commissioner J.C. Warren seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
