Commissioners discuss TSPLOST workshops, dumpster complaints and ARP-funded needs assessment

Commissioner Mike Dixon proposed holding workshops to identify problem areas across the county so TSPLOST funds could be prioritized and spent efficiently. County Manager Lori Burke recommended that commissioners evaluate their districts and prepare a priority list ahead of collecting funds.
Commissioner J.C. Warren raised complaints from residents about rotting dumpsters at multiple sites. County Manager Burke said J.D. conducted an assessment of sites and that the assessment had been forwarded to Atlantic Waste; she added that several listed sites already had replacements.
Commissioner Allison Willis suggested using American Rescue Plan (ARP) funds to perform a needs-based assessment that could support grant applications and school-safety projects. The board asked Willis to contact Jim Thompson and the Board of Education to explore interest and coordination.
