Coffee County commissioners approve alcohol license for Wright Quick and rezone 6.83 acres in Broxton

The Coffee County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved an alcohol license for Nayana Patel to operate Wright Quick at 2850 New Forest Highway and voted to rezone 6.83 acres at 1428 Fitzgerald Highway in Broxton from Agricultural to Commercial during its regular meeting on May 2, 2022.
Chairman AJ Dovers called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and, after an invocation by Steve Carver and the Pledge of Allegiance, the board approved the minutes of the April 4 work session and regular meeting and approved the meeting agenda. Commissioner Jimmy Kitchens moved to approve the minutes and to delete approval of the April 27 special called meeting; Commissioner Ted O'Steen seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
County Attorney Tony Rowell said the alcohol license application for Nayana Patel at Wright Quick "is in order and is ready for approval today." Commissioner Jimmy Kitchens moved to approve the license and Commissioner Johnny Wayne Jowers seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
Jason Whiddon, the county's Code Enforcement Director, presented a rezoning application from Walt Dockery for 6.83 acres at 1428 Fitzgerald Highway in Broxton. Whiddon told the board the Planning Commission met on March 18 and recommended approval and that staff had "had no opposition to this rezoning request." The board entered a public hearing at 9:35 a.m.; no members of the public spoke, and the hearing was closed at 9:35 a.m. Attorney Tony Rowell polled commissioners for conflicts of interest; none were declared. Commissioner Ted O'Steen moved to approve the rezoning and Commissioner Oscar Paulk seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
With no comments from the audience, Commissioner Johnny Wayne Jowers moved to adjourn the meeting at 9:37 a.m.; Commissioner Oscar Paulk seconded and the motion passed unanimously. County Administrator Wesley Vickers, County Clerk Tracie Vickers and other agency directors were present.
