Code Enforcement Director Jason Whiddon told the commission that applicant Ansley Guthrie of Freedom South LLC requested the zoning change from Commercial to Warehouse Light Industrial; Whiddon said the Planning Commission and county staff recommended approval. The record shows 1.68 acres adjacent on Quincey Batten Loop will remain zoned Commercial.
Chairman A.J. Dovers called for a motion after the commission opened a public hearing at 9:33 a.m. Commissioner Johnny Wayne Jowers moved to approve the rezoning; Commissioner Jimmy Kitchens seconded and all five commissioners voted yes. No members of the public spoke during the hearing.
The rezoning, as approved, clears the way for construction of small storage buildings on the rezoned parcel. The minutes do not specify a timetable for permits or construction.
