Fayette County board approves FY2025 budget calendar, contracts and reappointments in unanimous votes

The Fayette County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 8 approved a package of consent and new-business items that included the county’s FY2025 budget calendar, several contract awards and an appointment to the Board of Health.
As part of the Consent Agenda the board approved the FY2025 budget calendar (FY2025 runs July 1, 2024–June 30, 2025), and the board approved the award of Quote #2354-A for Crosstown High Service Pump #1 Pump & Motor Repair to Cornerstone Mechanical in a not-to-exceed amount of $91,826, together with a transfer of $17,864.33 from 3MG Clearwell Improvement (22WSB) to Pump Refurbishment CIP (9WSPR). The Consent Agenda was moved by Commissioner Charles Oddo, seconded by Vice Chairman Edward Gibbons and passed 5-0.
Separately, Water System Director Vanness Tigert presented a recommendation to award Contract #2378-S to Arcadis U.S., Inc. to provide as-needed engineering services for the Water System and Solid Waste departments for a 12‑month term ending June 30, 2026, with two one-year renewal options; Vice Chairman Gibbons moved approval, Commissioner Oddo seconded, and the motion passed 5-0. Chairman Lee Hearn said he had been pleased with Arcadis’s prior work.
The board also reappointed Dr. Loida Bonney, MD, MPH to the Fayette County Board of Health for a term from Jan. 1, 2024 to Dec. 31, 2029. "It has been a pleasure to serve," Dr. Bonney said. The reappointment motion was moved by Vice Chairman Gibbons, seconded by Commissioner Charles Rousseau and passed 5-0.
Commissioner Charles Oddo moved to appoint Vice Chairman Gibbons and Commissioner Charles Rousseau to serve on the Region Six Mental Health Board selection committee; Chairman Lee Hearn seconded and the motion passed 5-0.
The Board recessed into Executive Session to discuss threatened litigation and to review the Jan. 25 executive session minutes. The Board returned to Official Session and approved the Executive Session Affidavit (motion passed 5-0). The Board then approved the Jan. 25, 2024 executive session minutes on a 4-0-1 vote, with Chairman Lee Hearn recorded as abstaining. Commissioner Oddo moved to adjourn and the meeting ended at 5:52 p.m.
