Fayette County adopts zoning ordinance amendments governing conditional uses and special events

Planning and Zoning Director Deborah Bell said the proposed amendments to Chapter 110, Article V., Sec. 110-169 were the product of several work sessions and public input and addressed special events and related safety planning. Staff and the Planning Commission recommended approval with revisions discussed during the hearing. Residents Bobby Ferrell and Rick Minter spoke in favor of the changes and asked for close monitoring.
Commissioner Charles Oddo moved to approve the amendments; Commissioner Eric Maxwell seconded. During discussion, Commissioner Charles Rousseau asked whether penalty fees could be increased; County Attorney Dennis A. Davenport explained a state law cap sets maximum penalties at $1,000. The Board passed the ordinance amendments 4-0.
