Fayette County appoints Kynthia Gaines to Recreation Commission

At the April 23 meeting the Board of Commissioners approved the Parks and Recreation Selection Committee’s recommendation to appoint Kynthia Gaines to the Recreation Commission for a term beginning April 1, 2024 and expiring March 31, 2028.
Parks and Recreation Director Anita Godbee told the Board the selection committee felt Gaines would bring experience and energy to the commission after completing the interview process. Commissioner Eric K. Maxwell moved to approve the appointment; Commissioner Charles D. Rousseau seconded and the motion passed 4-0 (Vice Chairman Edward Gibbons absent).
During discussion Commissioner Maxwell asked Godbee how long she had worked for the county; Godbee said she would reach 37 years in August. Several commissioners praised Godbee’s leadership and the county clerk’s record-keeping. No opposition was recorded.
