The Charles Mix County Board of Commissioners conducted routine business Aug. 28 at the County Highway Shop in Wagner, approving the meeting agenda, the Aug. 14 minutes, and bills totaling portions of the $62,133.59 commission report. Vice Chairman Nick Stotz moved and Commissioner Kory Standy seconded the early motions; all were recorded as carried.
The board approved three plats: Tract A of Van Duysen Addition (Yankton Sioux Indian Reservation), Lot A1 in Platte Township, and Tract 2 of Pheifer Addition in Darlington Township; motions were moved by Commissioner Kory Standy and seconded by Vice Chairman Nick Stotz and recorded as carried.
Chairman Colin Soukup moved and Vice Chairman Nick Stotz seconded the board's decision to sign a letter of support for a South Dakota Destination Development Program grant application submitted by Wagner Area Growth; the motion carried.
The board approved hiring Tina Gramkow as the Sheriff's administrative assistant at $20.73 per hour, effective Sept. 2, 2025 (motion by Colin Soukup; second by Nick Stotz). The minutes record an executive session called under SDCL 1-25-2 to discuss personnel beginning at 11:33 a.m.; the session ended at 11:53 a.m. with no action taken.
Other agenda items discussed without formal action included a drainage issue in Forbes Township, highway equipment repairs and staffing, a Veterans Service Officer wage question related to adding Douglas County duties, and an Attorney General open-meeting handout presented by Auditor Jason Gant. The board set its next regular meetings for Sept. 2 and Sept. 25, 2025, and adjourned at 12:04 p.m.
