Charles Mix County approves audits, claims and routine personnel actions; treasurer reports $7.65 million balance

The Charles Mix County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 9 approved routine financial reports and several personnel actions during a 10 a.m. meeting in Lake Andes.
Auditor Jason Gant presented the Auditor's Account with Treasurer for the month ending Sept. 30, 2025, reporting total deposits, cash and checks of $7,646,510.56; the account was approved by motion of Vice Chairman Nick Stotz, seconded by Commissioner Kory Standy. The Treasurer's report, showing $1,121,988.22 in revenue, $1,068,461.47 in expenses and the same $7,646,510.56 ending balance, was approved on the same motions.
The board approved the Register of Deeds statement of fees collected in the month ending Sept. 30, 2025, totaling $10,585.50 and approved a plat for Tract 2 of Jongejeugd Addition in Darlington Township. Commissioners also approved claims and payroll listed in the meeting record; the minutes itemize department claims and a grand total of $227,204.59 for the period.
In personnel actions, commissioners approved a one-time payment to former Deputy Register of Deeds DaNay Loseke for 18 hours of sick-time pay and approved a $1-per-hour pay increase for Jo Cee Feddersen, Courthouse Assistant Deputy, effective Oct. 12. The board entered executive session at 10:13 a.m. to discuss personnel under SDCL 1-25-2 and returned at 10:33 a.m. with no action recorded from the session.
Other items in the record include a report that surplus property and a tax-deed auction were on the auditor docket for the day; no action was taken on those items at the meeting. The board set future meetings for Oct. 23 and Nov. 6 at 10 a.m. and adjourned at 11:12 a.m.
