At its Jan. 5 meeting the Minnehaha County Building Committee directed staff to begin the appraisal process for the Community Correction Center after the county terminated the property’s ground lease. Craig Dewey, assistant commission administrative officer, reported the lease termination as part of a broader facility update.
The committee’s instruction included forming an appraisal board and obtaining a broker’s opinion of value to establish the site’s market worth, the committee said. Dewey also briefed members on related capital projects, including the administration and extension building renovation design process, the selection of a construction manager at-risk, updated office standards, work on a new Highway Facility and activities at the county gravel pit.
No formal vote on the appraisal directive was recorded in the transcript; committee members present included Barth, Bender (Chair), Beninga, Heiberger, Karsky, Kyte and Muller, with Committee Member Kriens absent. The committee then moved to adjourn.
