Craig Dewey, Assistant Commission Administrative Officer, summarized the GMP and framed outstanding decisions that must be made before the full commission meets May 18. Representatives from Henry Carlson Construction, Dave Derry and Mike Ralston, presented alternatives and cost‑saving options the committee can consider to lower the GMP.
Facilities Director Mark Kriens urged the committee to weigh whether to repair or replace the building’s elevator, saying the choice will materially affect project scope and cost. Lynn Remmers of JLG Architects reviewed floor plan and design options via Zoom and identified three primary decision points for the committee: hand railings, the elevator approach, and roofing systems.
Committee members did not take a formal vote on a contract or scope at the meeting; staff and contractors were directed to refine options for the May 18 commission meeting. Project materials presented at the meeting showed a target completion date of November 2021.
The committee last met on April 6 and will return to the Extension Building GMP and related design choices at the May 18 commission meeting for further direction.
