The Clinton County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a package of resolutions and motions on Feb. 9, 2026, including the appointment of a medical examiner investigator, the final plat for a minor subdivision and the sale of two small right-of-way tracts in Bryant.
The board adopted Resolution 2026-28 appointing Laura Schaver as a Clinton County Medical Examiner Investigator effective Feb. 13, 2026, contingent on approval by the State Medical Examiner. Under the approved terms, Schaver will receive $200 per call, $26 per hour for work exceeding six hours with emergency management approval, mileage reimbursement per county policy, and $26 per hour for training or justifiable work at the EMA’s discretion. The resolution passed on a unanimous roll call vote by Supervisors Irwin, George and Chairperson Daniel A. Srp.
The board also approved Resolution 2026-30, granting preliminary and final approval for Tarchinski Subdivision (application 4552) in the SW 1/4 of the NE 1/4 of Section 22, Township 81 North, Range 3 East; the chair was authorized to sign the final plat prior to recording. The Planning and Zoning Commission had reviewed the application on Feb. 3 and the board found that the subdivision met county zoning and subdivision requirements.
In separate action under Resolution 2026-31, the board determined two 19-by-150-foot halves of a 38-foot right-of-way adjacent to Lot 34, Block 1, Bryant Original Town (each about 2,850 square feet) were no longer needed for county purposes and authorized sale by quit claim. Tract A was approved for sale to Willis and Glorianne Greve and Tract B to Daniel and Sheryl Moraetes at $143.94 each; purchasers are required to obtain their own legal counsel and pay associated title and recording costs. The resolution passed on a unanimous roll call vote.
Also on the consent/regular agenda the board approved Utility Permit No. 9-78-26 allowing Eastern Iowa Light and Power (REC) to place new poles and overhead spans along 265th Avenue in Bloomfield Township; the motion to authorize the chair to sign the permit was made by Supervisor Irwin and carried unanimously. The board approved the claims list including a vendor payment of $4,110.00 to Peanut Butter Inc.; County Auditor David Troester certified the claims list as complete and accurate.
The actions taken on Feb. 9 were routine procedural approvals needed to implement county operations and local land transactions. The board scheduled its next regular meeting for Feb. 12, 2026.
