Summary
The Wolf Creek Heritage Museum reported more than 2,200 visitors in 2025 and plans new exhibits and an oral-history initiative. The Commissioners Court unanimously approved two new board members and elected officers for the museum board.
Rachel Schwerzenbach, executive director of the Wolf Creek Heritage Museum, told the Lipscomb County Commissioners Court on Feb. 9 that the museum prepared its annual report to the Texas Historical Commission and had a strong 2025 with more than 2,200 visitors and roughly 800–900 volunteer hours.
Schwerzenbach said the museum raised about $36,000 during Panhandle Gives, matching 2024 totals, and ran regular programs including bingo, craft classes, a homeschool co-op, children's activities and a summer camp. She outlined plans for 2026 to add new exhibits, participate in America 250 events, begin artifact preservation and newspaper digitization projects, and launch an oral-history initiative aimed at preserving local stories.
The court voted unanimously to approve new museum board appointments: Sheriff Ben Eggleston and Toni McKnight were added as members, Rebecca Kells was elected board president, Mary Anne Shearer vice president and Otis Shearer secretary. The action was moved and seconded and carried without dissent.
The museum's annual report is due to the Texas Historical Commission in March; Schwerzenbach said the board will continue fundraising and program planning through the year.
