Rawlins County approves $4,500 mower repair and $4,800 landfill windbreak; Lucky 11 license approved pending state sign-off

Commissioners for Rawlins County unanimously approved repairs to a county mower tractor and authorized a portable windbreak at the county landfill during their Feb. 2 meeting.
Road and Bridge representative Wayne Lanning presented a $4,500 quote from AKRS to repair the mower tractor and asked the board to approve. Commissioner Lincoln Pochop moved to approve the quote; Commissioner Alan A. Solko seconded the motion, which carried.
Lanning also reported that all county trucks were out of service as of the previous Friday and discussed issues with diagnostics and repairs and the potential purchase and installation of a vehicle lift to aid maintenance.
At the landfill, Corey Castens of Lucky 11 Inc. asked the commissioners to approve a 7K quote for a 25-by-15-foot portable windbreak to reduce blowing trash. Commissioner Solko moved to approve spending $4,800 from the Solid Waste Capital Outlay Fund to build and install the windbreak; Commissioner Mark Mosley seconded and the motion carried.
Castens told the board that the process for a Cereal Malt Beverage (CMB) license has changed: applications are now sent to the state for approval. The board voted to approve Lucky 11’s license contingent on state approval; Commissioner Pochop moved and Commissioner Solko seconded the motion, which carried.
The meeting record notes that commissioners discussed longer-term equipment options but did not adopt a purchase at the session. The minutes also record the board entering a separate executive session later in the meeting; no action related to equipment purchasing was taken during that session.
