Representatives of the Charlotte County Rescue Squad discussed with the board the potential implications of rescue-squad employees becoming county employees.
Mrs. Sally Pyle said the squad is requesting $550,000 for its operating budget and additional funds for capital improvement projects. Captain Matthew LaMotte and Chris Russell participated in the conversation about what a conversion of squad employees to county employment would entail. Supervisor Walter T. Bailey said that after a quick review of the printed budget he saw line items he thought could be reduced.
The board did not vote on the request at the work session; the item will be considered further during budget deliberations and at upcoming work sessions.
