CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Va. — Empower Broadband updated the Charlotte County Board on March 13 on its VATI-funded deployment progress and customer rollout in the county.
David Lipscomb said Empower has installed roughly 50 miles of fiber in the Red Oak area and currently serves about 90 customers there. He said the company has about 33 households in the service queue and expects to begin additional hookups in six to eight weeks, weather permitting. Lipscomb reviewed eligibility and coverage maps and the company's website layout for customers.
On pricing, Lipscomb said the lowest monthly service package starts at $69.96 and noted eligible customers can receive up to $30 off their monthly bill through available discount programs.
Board members were invited to identify gravel roads for the six-year plan and asked about construction timing; no formal county action was taken during the presentation.
