Durham commissioners approve $750,000 ARPA interlocal for digital equity, lease renewal and tax releases

Chair Nida Allam asked to pull Consent Agenda item 24-0602 for a citizen comment; the rest of the consent package was approved by motion, with Commissioner Heidi Carter moving and Commissioner Wendy Jacobs seconding. The tax releases and refunds detail showed current-year releases of $161,776.60 and refunds of $35,138.94, prior-year releases of $56,177.05 and refunds of $13,226.98, producing a grand total of $266,319.57.
The ARPA interlocal (item 24-0604) was approved to support digital equity efforts that the county and city will coordinate. The lease renewal (item 24-0590) covers a Shoppes of Hope Valley suite at $51,480 per year. The minutes note the Board approved annual settlement of 2023 property taxes and charged 2024 property taxes to the tax collector as part of the consent actions.
