Parma Heights Recreation plans full summer schedule, seniors get two free pool Wednesdays

The Parma Heights Recreation Department said Monday it will return to a full summer schedule at the city pool, with swim lessons, adult lap swim times, swim teams and special events for all ages.
"We now have a good number of summer staff on board," Recreation Director Allen said, adding the department has returned to "pre-Covid pricing." She said the pool will open for Memorial Day weekend and that Parma Heights residents age 60 and older may use the pool for free on two Wednesdays each month between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. without additional registration.
Director Allen also said the Recreation Department plans family activities, summer concerts at the Commons and on the Greens, and that some youth-sport sponsors have shifted support to swim teams and concerts. When Councilwoman Walsh asked about family membership costs, Director Allen said the rate is $200 for a resident family pass and $350 for non-residents.
Council members thanked staff for preparing for the season. The Recreation Department signaled it will include adult programming and transportation from the Senior Center to the pool for those free senior days; residents who wish to stay beyond the free hours will be required to pay or show a pass.
The city’s recreation calendar and membership options will be posted on the department’s website and in city communications.
