Parma Heights Council approves $98,482 radio purchase and hires engineer for Nathan Hale stormwater basin

Minutes later the council approved Resolution 2022-11, authorizing D.J. Neff Enterprises, Inc., dba Neff & Associates, to prepare plans, specifications and cost estimates and authorizing Euthenics, Inc., to provide engineering services for the Nathan Hale stormwater basin project. Councilwoman Durichko moved for passage and Councilman Stavole seconded; the resolution passed unanimously.
Mayor Gallo said the administration hopes to begin the Nathan Hale basin work within about six months. "We hope to start this project within the next 6 months," she said, adding the city plans to seek local grant funding and is exploring options to reduce costs, including selling excavated dirt locally to lower hauling expenses.
Finance Director Iaconis told council the administration is pursuing grant opportunities and is working with county representatives who may have funds that could help pay for infrastructure projects. The resolution carries an emergency clause, allowing the city to proceed with engineering and procurement steps more quickly.
Both measures were read by Clerk Allen and went through routine suspension-of-rules motions before passage. No amendments or recorded dissent were noted. The council did not set specific construction start dates beyond the administration's six-month estimate; budget and contract approvals will follow normal procurement steps.
