Morgan County DHS approves warrants, certifications and announces LEAP utility assistance

Susan Nitzel, DHS Accounting Manager, summarized operating warrants for August 2025 totaling $533,963.17 (operating warrants $300,427.64; payroll direct deposits $233,535.53) and for September 2025 totaling $491,319.79 (operating $261,526.74; payroll $229,793.05). Nitzel also presented Certification of Provider and Vendor Benefit Authorizations showing $853,583.60 for August and $847,016.93 for September, noting year-over-year decreases tied largely to TANF and foster-care changes.
The board approved minutes, warrants and certifications by unanimous votes (3-0). Director Jacque Frenier told citizens that LEAP utility assistance and SNAP benefits are now available at the DHS office and via the PEAK online portal; Chairman Jon Becker thanked DHS staff for service during the recent government shutdown.
