County gives first reading to ordinance allowing off-highway vehicles on county roads

Morgan County Sheriff Dave Martin told the board community members requested the ordinance and said farmers already have use privileges during the course of their work; he expressed support but said the ordinance may not fully meet proponents’ expectations.
Commissioner Tim Malone moved to approve the ordinance for its first reading; Commissioner Kelvin S. Bernhardt seconded the motion, which carried 3-0. The transcript records this as the ordinance’s introductory action; further hearings or a second reading would be required before final adoption.
