Butler County board adopts FY2025 budget, certifies property tax levies

Butler County’s Board of Supervisors adopted the fiscal year 2025 budget and certified county property tax levies at a regular meeting on April 23, 2024.
The board opened and closed a public hearing on the proposed budget after County Auditor Leslie Groen noted written comments submitted by John Zimmerman and no additional comments from the public. By motion and roll call the board approved Resolution No. 2003-2024, adopting the budget for July 1, 2024–June 30, 2025, and certifying tax levies for all taxable property in the county.
The adopted levies listed in the resolution are: General Basic 3.63000; General Supplemental 2.38494; Debt Service 0.47599; Rural Services 3.70318. The resolution was adopted by unanimous vote of the board.
County Auditor Leslie Groen recorded the adopted budget and levies in the resolution documents required by Iowa law. The budget takes effect July 1, 2024, and the certified levies will be applied in the 2024–25 tax year.
The board did not receive in-person public comment at the hearing; Groen acknowledged a prior written comment from John Zimmerman. The board adjourned the session and will reconvene on April 30, 2024 for its next regular meeting.
