Spencer County Fiscal Court reviewed invoice registers, transfers and procurement items at the June 5 meeting and approved payment of bills and invoices with any necessary adjustments.
The court discussed law-enforcement ballistic vests and grant timing. Sheriff Scott Herndon said the county had already purchased vests and that Homeland Security grant criteria vary year-to-year; he said grants are most useful when vests are needed for new hires and when replacements are due. Court members asked Sheriff Herndon to provide the county policy on vests for the next meeting.
The invoice register (included in the packet) lists a range of vendor payments, departmental charges, and fund transfers across the General, Road and Jail funds. On a motion by Esq. Stump, seconded by Esq. Pharris, the court approved payment of bills and invoices with any changes being made; the motion passed with all present voting 'aye' except Esq. Eldridge.
Judge Travis also asked whether the court wanted to participate in a salt auction to purchase stock for winter. After discussion about storage options and typical salt prices, the court approved a salt purchase from the auction not to exceed $29,999 on a motion by Esq. Pharris, seconded by Esq. Cotton; that motion passed by voice vote.
The meeting record shows additional transfers between accounts documented in the packet; staff will process payments and execute transfers as approved.
