Spencer County Fiscal Court approves personnel moves, vehicle striping and park-slide replacement

The Spencer County Fiscal Court approved several operational items at its July 17 meeting, including a pay correction for an EMS supervisor, the hiring of a public-works employee, vehicle striping and replacement playground slides.
The court voted to increase full-time EMT/supervisor Rob Renner's hourly rate from $15.00 to $15.50 after Judge Travis explained Renner's supervisory duties had not been included in earlier adjustments. Later the court approved hiring Jonathan Rice as a full-time public-works employee at $17.00 per hour.
On equipment, the court approved a $2,172.12 quote from L&W Emergency Equipment to stripe and wire an EMS vehicle for Robert Klinglesmith, including a vehicle-specific console and LED lights. The court also voted to spend $10,441.11 to replace two damaged slides at Ray Jewell Park after members voiced safety concerns about leaving temporary repairs in place. "It would be more money if a kid got hurt," Magistrate Esq. Cotton said in arguing for prompt replacement.
The court accepted the sheriff's reports and approved payment of invoices, bills and transfers listed in the meeting packet. Several items related to recent vehicle purchases and pending striping costs will appear on the next bills list for final accounting.
