Spencer County Fiscal Court recorded a series of formal actions at its Sept. 18 meeting, including contracts, equipment purchases and administrative amendments.
Fence/impound lot: The court approved a motion to contract Shuck Fencing to erect a chain-link fence for the sheriff’s impound/vehicle storage lot at a cost of $17,000. The sheriff discussed site preparation and the court discussed whether gravel would be added to the lot.
EMS radio purchase: On a motion by Esq. Travis and seconded by Esq. Cotton, the court ordered the purchase of five Kenwood NX-5200K2 portable radios from J&N Electronics for $4,676.20 to replace aging or missing units. Court members discussed inventory controls and the radios’ state-contract pricing.
Standing orders amendment: The court voted to amend the standing orders list to add items related to an economic-development lease and to change the county attorney lessor to Jewell Brothers.
Parks transfer: The court approved a transfer of $25,000 for gravel at Ray Jewell Park to support parking and access improvements; the judge described a wider plan of future improvements including potential blacktop and facilities.
Zoning approvals: The court approved three zoning applications on the planning commission’s recommendations: a rezoning for Michael Jr. & Carla Schindler and Sharon Petty from R-1 to AG-1 (0.822 acres); Dennis & Kim Bleemel from AG-1 to B-2 (3.27 acres) with conditions and AG-1 to AG-2 (5.70 acres); and Paul E. Coke from AG-1 to R-1 on a 2.3033-acre tract. The minutes record unanimous "Aye" votes for these zoning motions.
