County Clerk Austin Johnson announced the County Clerk’s Office cannot conduct motor-vehicle transactions after 4 p.m. on Dec. 29 through Jan. 9 because of a statewide system conversion; other clerk services will operate normally except for closure on Jan. 1–2. Magistrate Marty Chandler encouraged investigating reinstating passport issuance at the clerk’s office.
Emergency Management Director Robert Palmer urged residents to sign up for the new notification system that switches Dec. 1 from Alert Sense to EverBridge. Judge Bames also announced that, following recent rain, the outdoor burn ban issued Nov. 17 has been lifted.
