Simpson County announces waste amnesty days, planning hearing and election dates

Judge/Executive Mason Barnes used the May 7 meeting to remind residents about Scott Waste Amnesty Days Friday (8–4) and Saturday (8–2), May 10–11, at the Convenience Center on Kenneth Utley Drive, where Franklin‑Simpson residents may dispose of items free of charge.
Barnes also said Spum Architecture is awaiting information from the engineering firm required to complete bid specifications for the new County Clerk building; Fiscal Court may authorize putting that project out to bid at the May 21 meeting once specs are complete. He noted, pursuant to KRS 100.193, the Franklin‑Simpson Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, May 21 at 6:30 PM at The Roxy regarding amendments and readoption of the Franklin Forward 2045 Comprehensive Plan.
County Clerk Austin Johnson announced Primary Election Day will be Tuesday, May 21 from 6 AM to 6 PM at five polling locations (First United Methodist Church, Salmons General Baptist Church, Zion Lutheran Church, Simpson Elementary School, and the Ag Building). Early in‑person voting will be available at First United Methodist Church on May 16–18 from 8–4. The court adjourned at 9:39 AM.
