The Simpson County Fiscal Court on May 7 approved Resolution No. 2024-05-07CRA to adopt and execute the County Road Aid (CRA) Cooperative Program Agreement with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Department of Rural and Municipal Aid, for fiscal year 2024–25 and authorized County Judge/Executive Mason Barnes to sign the agreement. The court recorded the CRA apportionment for FY24/25 as $918,886.92, effective July 1, 2024.
Magistrate Jeffrey Burr moved to adopt the resolution; Magistrate Scott Poston seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The court also set a public hearing on the proposed use of CRA and Local Government Economic Assistance (LGEA) funds for Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at 8:30 AM in the Simpson County Historic Courthouse and authorized advertising the hearing.
The resolution formalizes the county’s participation in the state cooperative road aid program for the coming fiscal year and establishes the publicly noticed forum where residents can review and comment on proposed expenditures. The hearing notice will include details of the proposed use of funds and provide an opportunity for public comment. The court did not debate line‑by‑line allocations of CRA dollars at the May 7 meeting; those details will be available at the May 21 hearing.
