Judge/Executive Mason Bames opened a public hearing May 21 on the use of restricted County Road Aid (CRA) and Local Government Economic Assistance (LGEA) funds and reported projected revenues for fiscal year 2024–25. He said CRA motor-fuel tax receipts are projected at $918,866.92 and LGEA receipts, derived from minerals taxes (primarily crushed stone mined in Simpson County), are projected at $275,054.
Bames said the hearing was conducted pursuant to Kentucky law (KRS 42.455 and KRS 174.100) and that the county had received no phone calls, written comments or in-person testimony; the hearing was then closed. No members of the public spoke during the proceeding.
The projections provide the revenue assumptions the fiscal court will use as it considers allocations for road maintenance and related capital work in the coming fiscal year. The court proceeded from the hearing to routine business, including first reading of the FY24/25 budget ordinance and other agenda items.
