Commissioners fund emergency equipment, highway land and Sycamore Square improvements

Cheatham County commissioners on Nov. 19 approved a series of infrastructure and equipment expenditures that officials said will support public safety and county operations.
The Legislative Body approved a $100,000 appropriation to the Pleasant View Fire Department to assist in purchasing a tanker; the motion was approved by roll call vote 12–0 (Resolution 21). The Road and Bridge committee brought forward a motion to purchase 38 acres on George Boyd Road for the Highway Department at a purchase price of $575,000; that motion passed on a roll call vote of 10 Yes, 2 No (Resolution 25). The minutes record funding for the Highway purchase to come from Debt Service.
Capital Improvements recommended and the body approved $57,189 to fund parking lot islands and $66,240 to fund LED light poles for the Sycamore Square parking lot; both motions passed by roll call vote 12–0 (Resolutions 22 and 23). The minutes note the LED poles cost is to be repaid in two years from sale or rental income of the Tucker Empson Building.
Insurance Committee also awarded the optional benefits rebid to Benefits Inc. (Dickson County) as the low bidder with better coverage; that award passed 12–0 (Resolution 20).
