Marion County board approves bridge engineering contract and $1 million for Knoxville pavement rehab

The contract approval directs the County Engineer to proceed with consulting engineering services as described in the agreement.
In a separate vote the board approved Resolution 2026-20 to allocate $1,000,000 from the Marion County Local Option Sales and Services Tax (Fund 29) for the Knoxville Area Pavement Rehabilitation Project, to be carried out with the City of Knoxville. The resolution cites prior voter measures authorizing LOSST capital projects (Public Measure A in 2011 and the amended language in Public Measure OQ adopted in 2021) and bases the allocation on FY2026 ending fund balance and FY2027 projections.
Both resolutions were approved after motions and seconding: the record shows the board carried the measures with Ayes from Supervisors Steve McCombs, Kisha Jahner and Jim Mueller; no Nays or abstentions were recorded.
The bridge agreement will allow the county to complete necessary analysis and preliminary design work; the LOSST allocation provides the county’s share for a planned pavement rehabilitation effort in Knoxville.
