Snowflake council approves land exchange to secure golf cart path; neighbor seeks view protections

The Snowflake Town Council voted Feb. 7 to approve a land exchange involving parcels 202-05-053B and 202-05-011N so the town can secure an existing golf-course cart path.
Councilmember Byron Lewis noted the principal advantage: "We get our cart path legally in our possession," and asked whether conditions such as a special use permit would be acceptable. Resident Ken Williams said he supported the exchange provided his view would not be obstructed. "I'm happy to support the land exchange as long as my view won't be obstructed," Williams said. Gordon Farr Jr., who described plans only to beautify the area, told the council that current zoning prevents building on the parcel.
Councilmember Kerry Ballard moved to approve the exchange; Greg Brimhall seconded the motion, which passed unanimously with Cory Johnson absent (six yes, one absent). Ballard asked whether a special use permit would address neighbors' concerns and Ken Williams indicated he would be content with that requirement.
The council did not specify particular protective language in the minutes; at least one resident asked that the exchange include conditions to preserve his view. The exchange vote and any related permit requirements are recorded as approved at the Feb. 7 meeting.
