Steering committee approves three sports proclamations; Pride Month resolution dies for lack of motion

The Sevier County Steering Committee met April 10 in Courtroom 100E and approved three combined proclamations recognizing local school basketball teams. Commissioner Carroll Rauhuff moved to combine and approve Proclamation 2023-04-01 (New Center Elementary girls), Proclamation 2023-04-02 (Sevier County High School girls) and Proclamation 2023-04-03 (Sevier County High School boys); Commissioner Harold Pitner seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Commissioner Ray Ogle presented a separate resolution, submitted to the county mayor’s office by members of the public, asking the Board of Commissioners to recognize June as Pride Month in Sevier County. Ogle asked committee members for comment and for a motion; no member moved the resolution, and it died for lack of motion.
The committee then moved a procedural item to approve the agenda for the April 17, 2023 Board of Commissioners meeting. Commissioner Harold Pitner made the motion to approve the April 17 agenda; Commissioner Ronnie Allen seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Commissioner Pitner later moved to adjourn; Commissioner Carroll Rauhuff seconded and the meeting adjourned at 5:11 PM.
