Franklin County committee backs resolution to establish victims assistance program, designates CASA Works

Commissioner Dave Van Buskirk said the program would be beneficial but expressed concern about how the county would be affected if assessments and resulting funding proved insufficient. After discussion, Van Buskirk moved to approve the resolution and send it to the full commission; Commissioner Iris Rudder seconded and the motion passed with all ayes.
The resolution text included the statutory language from T.C.A. § 40-24-109 and explicitly designated CASA Works, Inc., 1301 E. Carroll Street, Tullahoma, Tennessee, as the recipient of the county-designated funds. The resolution states that funds transmitted to the victims program must be used to defray the costs of providing the services described in the program’s mission and guidelines.
