Christopher Smith elected 8-7 to fill Franklin County District 8 commission seat

The commission moved promptly from resignation to appointment in the same meeting so the district would continue to have representation. The minutes do not record a speech from either nominee; the record shows nominations, the roll-call vote and the result.
The meeting record does not indicate additional conditions attached to the appointment. The commission’s procedural motion to seat the appointee followed standard practice for filling midterm vacancies.
